Create Your Own Crochet Textured & Striped Washcloth for Style and Functionality

The Crochet Textured & Striped Washcloth

The Crochet Textured & Striped Washcloth is a delightful project that brings both functionality and style to your daily routine! The combination of different crochet stitches creates a wonderful texture that not only makes washing up a breeze but also adds a touch of charm to your bathroom decor.

The stripes effortlessly blend varied colors together, making each washcloth a unique piece. Whether you're a beginner looking for a fun challenge or a seasoned crocheter in need of a quick project, this washcloth is a perfect choice. So grab your crochet hook, some soft cotton yarn, and get ready to create something both practical and beautiful!

Materials

  • H hook
  • Cotton worsted weight yarn in colors of choice (I used Peaches & Creme & Crafters Secret cotton)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Abbreviations

  • ch: chain
  • sc: single crochet
  • dc: double crochet
  • f.o.: finish off
  • sk: skip
  • blo: back loop only: crochet in the back loop of the stitch instead of both
  • mc: main color
  • cc: contrast color

Note:

Unless noted otherwise: ch 1 at end of each row does not count as stitch. If the pattern reads "sc, sc2tog, 2sc" it should be read as "single crochet, single crochet 2 stitches together, 2 single crochet in the next stitch." Directions are to be repeated to the end of row/round unless otherwise noted.

Directions:

With mc, ch 28 (or more if you desire; the beginning ch count can be any size you like).

  1. Sk 1st ch sp, sc in each ch space across (mine has 27), turn.
  2. BLO: ch 3 (counts as first st from this point forward), dc across; change to cc in last st, turn.
  3. Hide your tails as you work by crocheting over them—saves finishing work!
  4. Ch1, BLO sc (27) (don't forget to sc in ch3!).
  5. Ch3 (counts as 1st st), BLO dc; change to mc in last st.
  6. Ch1, BLO sc (27).
  7. Ch3, BLO dc; change to cc in last st.
  8. Repeat rounds 3-6 for a total of 2 times (or to desired length).

Finishing:

Weave in ends and enjoy!
