Instructions
Ch 5, sl st tog to make a ring.
Round Instructions
Round 1: Ch 3, 14 dc in ring. Sl st tog into the top of ch 3. (Count the ch 3 now and throughout as 1st dc)
Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around.
Round 3: Ch 3, dc in same st, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog.
Round 4: Ch 3, dc in same st, *dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog.
Round 5: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Sl st tog.
Round 6: Ch 3, *Skip 1st st, dc then cross the front of the dc and dc in the skipped stitch. (this makes the cross stitch in crochet) Repeat from * around. The ch 3 will be by itself and look like a dc down the back throughout the hat. Sl st tog.
Round 7: Ch 3, *Skip 1st of crossed dc from the previous row, dc in the next st. Go back and cross the front of the dc and dc in the skipped st. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog.
Rounds 8-13: Repeat Round 7.
Rounds 14-16: Repeat Round 5. Fasten off and weave in ends after Row 16.
