Gauge

Size G hook: 2 next dc, shell, ext dc] reps = 3 1/2 inches; 8 rows in Bodice pattern = 3 1/4 inches

Pattern Notes

The top is designed with several inches of ease, and the fabric is stretchy. For a more streamlined fit, go down a size.

The bodice is worked in two rectangles from front to back; folded over, they create the shoulder line. The remainder of the top is worked in rounds into the short edges of the folded-over rectangles, with skipped stitches on the outer portions of the short edges creating the open sleeves.

Join with a slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

Chain-3 at the beginning of the row counts as the first extended double crochet unless otherwise stated.

Chain-3 at the beginning of the round counts as the first treble crochet unless otherwise stated.

Special Stitches

Extended double crochet (ext dc): Yo, insert hook in the indicated st, yo, pull through 1 lp, [yo, pull through 2 lps] twice.

Rows 4-43 [4-43, 4-47, 4-47, 4-53, 4-53]: [Rep rows 2 and 3 alternately] 20 [20, 22, 22, 25, 25] times. At the end of the last row, do not turn.

Sleeve Edge

Left Bodice

Leaving a 10-inch tail, work as for Right Bodice through row 43 [43, 47, 47, 53, 53]. Fasten off.

Sleeve Edge

Joining the Bodice

With WS facing, lay Left Bodice and Right Bodice flat with neck edges together and Sleeve Edges on outside. Pin Bodice pieces together at the top and bottom center, joining 2 half-shells of Left and Right pieces. On both pieces, place markers in 32nd [36th, 40th, 44th, 48th, 52nd] st from neck edge and at corresponding points on bottom foundation ch.

Round 1 (Joining)
