Stitches Control
22 sts and 22.5 rows = 10 x 10 cmInstructions
Cast on 53 stitches and knit 4 cm = 8 rows of ribbing, starting the first row with a selvedge stitch, then 1 knit stitch, and finishing with a row of 1 knit stitch before the selvedge stitch. Next, knit the ornament with braids, increase 17 stitches to reach 70 stitches in the first row according to the scheme. After knitting 159 cm = 360 rows from the placket, decrease 17 stitches to return to 53 stitches of ribbing in the next row based on the first row of the ornament with braids. Following the next wrong side row, knit 4 cm = 8 rows of ribbing to finish the placket. Then, bind off the stitches loosely according to the pattern. Create 3 decorative braids. Cut 8 threads of yarn measuring 360 cm each, making a knot at one end of each braid. Proceed to make a loose braid; the finished braid will measure about 170 cm. Bind off the loose end of the braid. Insert one braid in the 3 central braids of your scarf, starting from the wrong side at the placket end, then turn to the right side under criss-crossings in steps. Sew the beginning and end of the braids to the wrong side of your scarf.
