How to Knit a Stylish Sweater: Step-by-Step Instructions




You’ll Need:
750g of yarn (50% cotton, 50% viscose; 120m/50g);
Straight and circle knitting needles 3 and 3.5.
Size:
M (L).
Instructions:
Work with the main pattern due to scheme 1. Placket pattern – 1 row of knit stitches, 1 row of purls. Make yoke in the following way – scheme 2 circle rows; wrong-side rows are due to the ornament, yarn overs – as purls.
Back:
Cast on 98 (106) stitches with knitting needles 3. Knit 2 x 2 rib for the next 7 cm. Increase 35 (37) stitches in the last row of the rib. Then, work with the main pattern and knitting needles 3.5. After 32.5 cm from the beginning, bind off 2 stitches from both sides, then, 1 stitch x 8, 2 stitches x 8 in every 2nd row. When the length of your sweater is 39 cm, leave your work.
Front:
Make in the same way as the back.
Sleeves:
Cast on 50 (54) stitches with knitting needles 3. Continue working with rib for 6 cm. Increase 29 (25) stitches in the last row of the rib. Work with the main pattern using knitting needles 3.5, starting from the arrow on scheme 1. For forming sleeve chamfer, increase 1 stitch x 16 in every 6th row. After 40.5 cm from the edge of the detail, bind off 2 stitches from both sides, 1 stitch x 8 and 2 stitches x 8 in every 2nd row. There are 83 stitches on the knitting needles. Leave the stitches at 47 cm height.
Make the second sleeve in the same way.
Yoke:
Collect all the left stitches on the circle needles 3.5. Make the next row with knit stitches. Knit the connecting selvedge stitches together 11 (12) times. Totally, 361 (380) stitches. Continue working with the yoke pattern. After finishing scheme 2, change to circle knitting needles 3 and make 2.5 cm of placket pattern. Increase 2 stitches x 6 in the 5th row of the placket.
Assembly:
Connect the details with kitchener stitch.
