Knitting Instructions for a Stylish Cotton Garment

You’ll Need:
650 (750)g of light-grey 100% cotton yarn (80m/50g);
Knitting needles size 5;
Circular knitting needles size 4.5.
Size:
S (M).
Used Patterns
- Garter stitch;
- Main pattern: the quantity of sts is multiple 10 + 9 + 2 selvage sts. Work due to the scheme, on which both RS and WS rows are stated. Start with 1 selvage st and sts before pattern repeat, pattern repeat, finish with sts after pattern repeat and 1 selvage st. Repeat 1st-20th rows.
Stitches Control:
16 sts x 41 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Instructions
Back
Cast on 81 (91) sts and make 1 cm = 3 rows of garter stitch, starting with 1 WS row. Continue work with main pattern. In 63.5 cm = 260 rows from placket, bind off all sts; the central 37 sts form neck-hole, outer 22 (27) sts form shoulders.
Front
Make in the same way as back, but start pattern with 11th-20th rows, then repeat 1st-20th rows. For a V-shape neck-hole, bind off the central st in 39 cm = 160 rows from placket and finish both sides separately. For chamfer, bind off 18 x 1 st in every 4th and 6th row alternatively from inwards. Bind off the remaining 22 (27) sts of shoulder at the height of back.
Sleeves
Cast on 41 (51) sts for each sleeve and make a placket in the same way as for back. Continue working with the main pattern. In 12 cm = 50 rows from placket, increase 1 x 1 st from both sides for sleeve chamfers. Then, bind off 4 x 1 st in every 14th row and 2 x 1 st in every 12th row, working with garter stitch until you have 55 (65) sts. In 34 cm = 140 rows from placket, bind off all sts.
Assembly
Make shoulder seams. For the placket, cast on 124 sts along the neck-hole with circular knitting needles and work with garter stitch. At 1.5 cm width of the placket, bind off all sts as knit sts. Sew up the sleeves, making side and sleeve seams.
