Crochet Bag with Hexagon Design Tutorial

You’ll Need

9 skeins of black yarn (100% linen; 125m/50g);

1 skein of the same yarn, but in white color;

Crochet hook 4;

Zipper 25 cm long.

Size

24 x 24 cm.

Note

Work in 3 threads of yarn.

Stitches Control

18 sts x 18 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

Start with two main parts of the bag. Make 1 st, then 5 chain sts and circle them in the ring with the help of a slip st.

Main Rows

1^st row: 1 chain st increase, 12 half crochets behind ring of chain sts, finish with slip st in chain st increase;

2^nd row: 1 chain st increase, *2 half crochets in 1 half crochet of the previous row, 1 half crochet in the next half crochet*; repeat from * to *, finish with slip st in chain st increase = 6 groups of sts with increases;

3^rd row: 1 chain st increase, *2 half crochets in the center of the group of sts with increases, 1 half crochet in every of the following 2 half crochets*; repeat from * to *, finish with 1 slip st in chain st increase = 1 half crochet is increased in every of the 6 groups of sts. Continue work around, increase 6 half crochets in every circle row = hexagon shape.

When there are 120 sts in a row, finish your work.

Make the second half of the bag in the same way.

Decorative Fastening

Fasten both hexagon details around; for this, make 2 half crochets with black yarn and 2 half crochets with white yarn by turn. Circle the row with 1 slip st.

Handle-Belt and Side

Make 1 st, then 220 chain sts and circle it in the ring with 1 slip st. Make the following 10 circle rows in the following way: 1 chain st increase, 1 half crochet in every st, 1 slip st in chain st increase. Sew the obtained detail between hexagon details, leaving two upper edges open.

Fastening

For one detail, make 1 st, then 40 chain sts and turn with the help of 1 chain st increase and make 1 half crochet in every of the following 39 chain sts, *turn with the help of 1 chain st, 1 half crochet in every of 39 half crochets*; repeat from * to * until there are 4 rows made.

Make the second detail in symmetry.

Sew zipper between crochet details.

Sew the obtained upper part of the bag with zipper and sew it between the open edges of the hexagon and attach it to the handle.
