Complete Guide to Crafting a Cozy Violet Cashmerino Sweater with Detailed Instructions and Patterns

You’ll Need:

650 (700) 750g of violet Cashmerino yarn (55% merino wool, 35% polyacryl, 10% cashmere; 100m/50g);

Straight and circular knitting needles size 5.

Size:

S (M) L.

Used Patterns:

  • Garter stitch: knit stitches;
  • Stockinette stitch: in RS row – knit stitches, in WS row – purls;
  • Wrong-side pattern: in RS row – purls, in WS row – knit stitches;
  • Relief pattern: the quantity of stitches is multiple of 16 + 0 (6) 12 + 2 selvage stitches.
    Work according to the scheme, which states RS and WS rows. Start with 1 selvage stitch and 0 (3) 6 stitches before pattern repeat, repeat the pattern, finish with stitches after pattern repeat and 1 selvage stitch. Repeat rows 1st to 14th.

Stitches Control:

20.5 stitches x 27.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions:

Back:

Cast on 86 (92) 98 stitches and make 1.5 cm = 5 rows of garter stitch for the placket, starting with a WS row and increase 12 stitches in the last row = 98 (104) 110 stitches. Then, work with the relief pattern. At 33 cm = 90 rows (32 cm = 86 rows) 31 cm = 86 rows from the placket, bind off 8 stitches from both sides for arm-holes = 82 (88) 94 stitches. At 53 cm = 146 rows from the placket, bind off 1 x 4 stitches from both sides for shoulder chamfer and 4 x 4 stitches (2 x 4 stitches and 2 x 5 stitches) every 2nd row. Simultaneously, with the 1st decrease for the shoulder, bind off the central 22 (24) 26 stitches for the neck-hole and finish both sides separately. For smooth rounding, bind off 1 x 5 stitches, 1 x 3 stitches, and 1 x 2 stitches every 2nd row from inwards. At 56 cm = 154 rows from the placket, bind off all the stitches.

Front:

Make in the same way as the back, but with a deeper neck-hole. For this, bind off the central 10 (12) 14 stitches at 50 cm = 138 rows from the placket and 1 x 5 stitches, 1 x 3 stitches, 3 x 2 stitches, 2 x 1 stitch every 2nd row.

Sleeves:

Cast on 46 (50) 54 stitches and make 1.5 cm = 5 rows of garter stitch, increasing 8 stitches in the last row = 54 (56) 62 stitches. Then, work with the relief pattern, starting with 1 selvage stitch and 2 (4) 6 stitches before pattern repeat, repeat the pattern 3 times, finishing with 2 (4) 6 stitches after pattern repeat and 1 selvage stitch. In 25 cm = 68 rows from the placket, increase 11 x 1 stitch from both sides for sleeve chamfers, 2 x 1 stitch in every 4th and 6th rows alternately = 82 (86) 90 stitches, including the increased stitches in the pattern. At 51 cm = 140 rows from the placket, bind off the stitches.

Assembly:

Make shoulder seams. Cast on 92 (96) 100 stitches along the neck-hole with circular knitting needles and work with garter stitch. At 12 cm height of the collar, bind off the stitches. Sew up the sleeves and make side and sleeve seams.
