Understanding the Quantity of Stitches
The quantity of stitches is a multiple of 3 + 1.
Row Instructions
1st Row
Make 19 chain stitches, single crochet (sc) in the 2nd chain from the hook and in the next chain stitch. *Chain 2, skip 2 chain stitches, 1 single crochet in the next stitch*; repeat from * to * across the row, single crochet in the last chain; change color in the final stitch.
2nd Row
Make 3 chain stitches, then make 3 double crochets (dc) in each chain 2 space across the row. (Don’t make any stitches into the sc stitches except the final sc stitch) Make 1 dc in the final sc of the row; change color on the last stitch and turn.
3rd Row
Chain 1, single crochet in the 1st stitch, 1 single crochet in the space. *Chain 2, skip 3 double crochets, 1 single crochet in the chain 2 space*; repeat from * to *, and make 1 single crochet in the final stitch; change color at the final stitch.

Repeat the 2nd and 3rd rows as necessary to continue your project.
