Comprehensive Knitting Guide for a Denim Yarn Garment


You’ll Need:
350 (400) 450g of denim color yarn (91% viscose, 9% polyester; 150m/50g);
Knitting needles 3.5 and 4;
Circular knitting needles 3.5;
2 buttons.

Used Patterns:
Wrong-Side Pattern:
In RS rows – purls, in WS rows – knit sts;
Karakule Pattern:
The quantity of sts is multiple of 4.
Start and finish every row with 1 selvage st.1st row: *cross knit 3 together, (1 purl, 1 knit st, 1 purl) from the next st*; repeat from * to *;
2nd and 4th row: knit;
3rd row: *(1 purl, 1 knit st, 1 purl) from the next st, cross knit 3 together*; repeat from * to *.
Repeat 1st-4th rows.
Stitches Control:
26 sts x 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Instructions:
Back:
Cast on 126 (134) 142 sts with knitting needles 3.5 and make 1 cm = 3 rows of wrong-side pattern, starting with 1 WS row. Continue work with karakule pattern using knitting needles 4. In 30 cm = 78 rows from the placket, increase 1 x 4 sts, then, 3 x 4 sts in every 2nd row, and bind off 6 x 4 sts in every 2nd row. In 54.5 cm = 142 rows (56 cm = 146 rows, 57.5 cm = 150 rows) from the placket, bind off the rest 102 (110) 118 sts, with the central 50 sts forming the neck-hole and outer 26 (30) 24 sts from each side as shoulders.
Left Front:
Cast on 62 (66) 70 sts with knitting needles 3.5 and make a placket the same way as for the back. Continue work with karakule pattern using knitting needles 4. For the beginning of sleeve from the right side, follow the same method as for the back = 78 (82) 86 sts. In 46 cm = 120 rows (47.5 cm = 124 rows) 49 cm = 128 rows from the placket, bind off 1 x 4 sts from the left side for neck-hole chamfer, then bind off 10 x 2 sts in every 2nd row. At the same time, make shoulder chamfer from the right side in the same way as for the back. Bind off the remaining 26 (30) 34 sts at the height of the back.
Right Front:
Make in reflection to the left front.
Assembly:
Make shoulder seams. Cast on 63 (71) 79 sts along the straight edges of arm-holes with circular knitting needles, starting from the 1st WS row, and make 3 rows of wrong-side pattern. Then, bind off all the sts as purls. Make side and bottom edges of sleeves seams. For the placket, cast on 92 (96) 100 sts along the sides of the front, along the front neck-hole – 30 sts (for each half), along the back neck-hole – 50 sts, and make 3 rows of wrong-side pattern on all 294 (302) 310 sts, starting with 1 WS row. Then, bind off all sts as purl. Sew one button below the front neck-hole, and another one to the left front.
