Introduction to Knitting
The quantity of stitches is a multiple of 8 + 1 + 2 selvage stitches.
Row Instructions
Basic Rows
1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th rows: * 1 purl, 1 knit stitch*; repeat from * to *;
Purl and Knit Row Alternation
2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th: knit stitches as purls, purls – as knit stitches;
Yarn Over Techniques
9th row: * 1 knit, 1 yarn over, knit two together (k2tog) to the right, 3 knit stitches, knit two together (k2tog) to the left, 1 yarn over*; repeat from * to *;
Pattern Adjustments
10th, 12th and 14th rows: due to the pattern, yarn overs should be treated as purls;
Complex Stitch Patterns
11th row: * 2 knit stitches, 1 yarn over, knit two together (k2tog) to the right, 1 knit stitch, knit two together (k2tog) to the left, 1 yarn over, 1 knit stitch*; repeat from * to *, ending with 1 knit stitch;
13th row: * 3 knit stitches, 1 yarn over, knit three together (k3tog), 1 yarn over, 2 knit stitches*; repeat from * to *, finishing with 1 knit stitch.
