Additional Tools: Yarn Needle, Scissors, Measuring Tape

Stitch Key

Specialty Stitch

FpDc – Front post double crochet stitch: (Yo, insert your hook from front to back to front around the post of the next stitch, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops on your hook, yo, pull through the remaining two loops on your hook).

BloSc – Back loop only single crochet stitch: (Insert crochet hook into the back loop only, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through the 2 loops on the crochet hook).


Notes

  • This pattern is written in US terminology.
  • This pattern is worked in rounds.
  • Ch2 counts as a stitch at the beginning of each row.
  • Ch3 counts as a stitch at the beginning of each row.
  • Ch1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
  • This pattern is worked bottom-up.

Instructions

We will start with the base of the basket.

Ch 4, join with a Slst to form a ring or use the magic circle method.

Round 1: Ch 2, hdc 9 in the ring, join with Slst to ch 3 (10)

Round 2: INC Ch 2, hdc 1 in same 1st st, hdc 2 in next st and around to end of the round, Slst to ch 2 (20)

Round 3: INC Ch 2, *[hdc 1 in next st, hdc 2 in next st]* repeat from * to last st, Slst to ch 2 (30)

Round 4: INC Ch 2, *[hdc 1 in next 2 st, hdc 2 in next st]* repeat from * to last st, Slst to ch 2 (40)

Round 5: INC Ch 2, *[hdc 1 in next 3 st, hdc 2 in next st]* repeat from * to last st, Slst to ch 2 (50)

Round 6: INC Ch 2, *[hdc 1 in next 4 st, hdc 2 in next st]* repeat from * to last st, Slst to ch 2 (60)

Round 7: Ch 1, sc 1 in 1st st from hook, BloSc in next st and around to the end of the round, Slst to ch 1 (60)

Round 8: Ch 3, dc 1 in next st, dc 1 in next st and around to last st, Slst to ch 3 (60)

Round 9: Ch 3, dc 1 in next st, *[FpDc 1 in next 2 st, dc 1 in next 2 st]* repeat from * to last st, Slst to ch 3 (60)

Round 10+11: Ch 2, hdc in next st, hdc 1 in next and around to end of the round, Slst to ch 2 (60)

Round 12+13: Repeat rounds 8+9

Here I changed the color for more interest (optional)

Round 14+15: Ch 2, hdc in next st, hdc 1 in next and around to end of the round, Slst to ch 2 (60)

Round 16: Ch 3, dc 1 in next st, dc 1 in next st and around to last st, Slst to ch 3 (60)

Round 17: Ch 3, dc 1 in next st, *[FpDc 1 in next 2 st, dc 1 in next 2 st]* repeat from * to last st, Slst to ch 3 (60)

Round 18: Ch 2, hdc in next st, hdc 1 in next and around to end of the round, Slst to ch 2 (60)


Finishing

Weave in all ends and stiffen using starch with water or any other method.
