- 1 ball of knitcraft HUG IT OUT super chunky, 200g/100% acrylic/58m in Hot Pink/HH08
- 1 ball of knitcraft HUG IT OUT super chunky, 200g/100% acrylic/58m in Steel/HH02
Be aware that both Hot Pink and Turquoise are discontinued. Currently, you can find the following shades in Hobbycraft stores: Paprika, Steel, Shell, Duck Blue, Duck Egg Blue, Pink, Mustard, and Ruby!
- 15mm hook
- Scissors/yarn needle
- Bamboo handles, 18cm (W) x 12cm (H) [7.1 x 4.7 in]
Both bag panels reach a diameter of 32cm/12.6in. Gauge is not important for this project.
Please remember I follow the US crochet terminology.
Skill level: Confident beginner/intermediate.
The initial 2ch of each round is never considered a stitch!
Pattern
Front Panel
Make a slip knot on your hook using the hot pink yarn. Chain 4 and sl st into the first chain to form a ring.
Round Instructions
Round 1: 2ch, 8hDC into the ring, sl st in top of 2ch [8sts]
Round 2: 2ch, 2hDC in each stitch, sl st in top of 2ch [16sts]
Round 3: 2ch, (1hDC, 2hDC in next stitch) 8 times, sl st in top of 2ch [24sts]
Round 4: 2ch, (2hDC, 2hDC in next stitch) 8 times, sl st in top of 2ch [32sts]
Round 5: 2ch, (3hDC, 2hDC in next stitch) 8 times, sl st in top of 2ch [40sts]
Round 6: 2ch, (4hDC, 2hDC in next stitch) 8 times, sl st in top of 2ch [48sts]
Round 7: 2ch, (5hDC, 2hDC in next stitch) 3 times.
Now collect one bamboo handle and work 7DC around it (=5DC, 2DC in next stitch): you work the first half of the double crochet stitch as usual, while to complete it, you incorporate the bottom of the handle before the last stitch draw.
After the handle is all wrapped, continue the round as follows: (5HDC, 2hDC in next stitch) 4 times, sl st in top of 2ch [56sts] and fasten off. Weave in all ends.
