Special Stitch Instructions

Spoon Stitch (spn): Insert hook in place indicated. Pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through one loop on hook twice as if to chain. Repeat from beginning 2 more times. Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on hook.

Front Instructions

ROW 1: With Pink: Chain 20. Single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across. (19 stitches.) Chain 3, turn.

ROW 2: Skip first single crochet, spoon stitch in next single crochet. Chain 1. *Skip next stitch. Spoon stitch in next stitch. Chain 1. Repeat from * across. Double crochet in last single crochet. Fasten off Pink.

ROW 3: Tie White yarn onto top of double crochet. Chain 3. Double crochet in chain 1 space. *Spoon stitch in next chain 1 space. Chain 1. Repeat from * across. Double crochet in chain 1 space and in top of chain 3. Fasten off White.

ROW 4: Tie Pink yarn onto top of double crochet. *Spoon stitch in next chain 1 space. Chain 1. Repeat from * across. Double crochet in top of chain 3. Fasten off Pink.

ROW 5: Repeat ROW 3.

ROW 6: Repeat ROW 4 but do not fasten off. Instead, chain 1, turn.

ROW 7: Single crochet in next stitch and work 2 single crochets in each chain 1 space across and in the last 2 stitches in row. Fasten off. Weave ends into the back of work and set aside.

Back Instructions

With Pink.

ROW 1: Repeat as for row 1 on front. Chain 3, turn.

ROW 2: Skip first single crochet, spoon stitch in next single crochet. Chain 1. *Skip next stitch. Spoon stitch in next stitch. Chain 1. Repeat from * across. Double crochet in last single crochet. Chain 3, turn.

ROW 3: Double crochet in chain 1 space. *Spoon stitch in next chain 1 space. Chain 1. Repeat from * across. Double crochet in chain 1 space and in top of chain 3. Chain 3, turn.

ROW 4: *Spoon stitch in next chain 1 space. Chain 1. Repeat from * across. Double crochet in top of chain 3. Chain 3, turn.

ROWS 5-11: Repeat ROWs 3 & 4 alternately. At the end of ROW 11, chain 1, turn.

ROW 12: Single crochet in each of the first two stitches. 2 single crochets in each chain 1 space across. Single crochet in each of the last 2 stitches. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.

Assembly

Position the back in front of you so the right side is facing up and the starting chain is on the bottom. Lay the front piece on top, matching up the starting chain with the starting chain on the back. Attach yarn to both thicknesses at the bottom left corner and work the following around the perimeter of the whole thing, working from the front to the back where they meet. Work a row of single crochet, chain 3, single crochet all the way around. Work single crochet, chain 3, single crochet in each corner.
