- 2 balls White #1
- 1 ball Strawberry Cream #144
- 1 Wild Plum colored hand towel, cut in half and hemmed
- 2 - 1 1/8” buttons
- G Hook
Stitches Used
- Single crochet
- Double crochet
- Slip stitch
Instructions
Initial Rows
Rw 1: With white, ch 9 to form a ring.
Rw 2: Ch 1, 6 sc in ring, turn. Do not join.
Rw 3-6: Ch 1, sc in each sc across. Turn.
Increasing Rows
Rw 7: Ch 1, 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc, repeat across row. Turn (9 sc)
Rw 8-15: Ch 1, sc across row, turn.
Rw 16: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc across row. Turn (18 sc)
Rw 17-18: Ch 1, 1 sc in each sc across row. Turn.
Shelled Rows
Row 19: Ch 2, 2 dc in same place, *ch 1, sk 1 sc, 2 dc. ch 2, 2 dc in same sc, (shell made), ch 1, sk 1 sc, 3 dc in next sc.* Repeat from * to * across row, ending with sk 1 sc, 2 dc in next sc, 1 dc in last sc. Turn. (5 groups of 3 dc & 4 shells)
Row 20: Ch 2, sk first dc, 1 dc in next 2 dc, *ch 1, shell over shell, ch 1, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc group.* Repeat from * to *. Turn.
Final Touches
Rw 21-24: Repeat row 20. At end of row 24, fasten off white, attach strawberry cream.
Rw 25: Repeat row 20. Do not turn. Ch 1, 2 sc in corner, sc up side of topper, sc around unworked part of beg ch 9, sc down the other side of topper, work sc in each stitch across bottom of topper, slip stitch to beg of row 25. Fasten off, weave ends in. Sew button to the middle of row 18. Hand sew towel topper to hemmed end of the hand towel, leaving strawberry shells free.
Repeat for the second towel.
