Skip first sc, dc in next 4 sc, 1 sc in each of the next 5 dc, 1 dc in each of the next sc. Continue across row following the previous row's stitches (if there is a DC you will SC and vice versa, always working in the sets of 5 except for start); be sure to place 5th stitch in last section in previous row's start chain, ch 1, turn

Skip first sc, sc in next 4 dc, 1 dc in each of the next 5 sc, 1 sc in each of the next dc. Repeat Rows 2 and 3. (Don't cut yarn yet; move on to border directions)

Round 1
Ch 3, sc in side of sc stitch on blanket's edge, ch 3, sc in the side of the next sc row, repeat this for the blanket's sides (edges). For corners, sc in corner to turn, ch 3, skip 2 stitches, sc in next stitch, continue this pattern for bottom and top of blanket. Connect with sc and then sl st into first ch 3 space.

Round 2
Ch 2, 2 sc in ch 3 space, *hdc in sc of previous row, 3 sc in next ch 3 sp, repeat from * around entire blanket.
