Materials needed: about 2 1/2 ounces of red and a small amount of green worsted weight yarn, G hook, sewing needle

Row 3 - repeat row 2 ( 42 hdc)

skip 4 sts in the middle (this is the bottom of the apple) attach yarn in 5th st from sts just worked, hdc in the next 11 sts, ch 2 turn hdc back across 11 sts just made sc evenly around the apple when you get to the bottom lobes work 3 sc down the side of the lobe and a sc in each of the 4 sts that were skipped, back up the side working 3 sc in the side of the lobe.

Leaf:

ch 10

Row 1 - hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining (9 hdc)

Row 2 - dec hdc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 5 sts, dec hdc in last 2 sts, ch 3 turn

Row 3 - dec hdc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 3 sts, dec hdc in last 2 sts, ch 3 turn

Row 4-5 hdc across, ch 2 turn

Row 6 - dec hdc in next 2 sts, hdc in next st, dec hdc in last 2 sts, ch 3 turn

Row 7 - dec hdc in next 2 sts, hdc in last st, ch 2 turn

Row 8 - dec hdc in next 2 sts, ch to close the st, sc evenly around the leaf, fasten off. Attach green in the last 3 sc sts made on the bottom of the leaf work 1 sc in each of these sts, ch 10 work 1 hdc in in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch. fasten off leaving a tail. Thread the tail into the needle and stitch the stem to the leaf with 3 sl sts.

Thread the needle with a small amount of red and sl st the leaf to the back of the apple, I stitched mine at a slight angle to the left.
