Instructions

Row 1

Holding one strand of each color together, Ch7, sc in the second ch from the hook. Sc in each remaining ch. (6 sc)

Rows 2-44

Ch1, turn. Sc in each sc. (6 sc)

Border

Ch1, do not turn. Sc evenly around the entire piece, placing 1 sc in each st and row end and 3 sc in each corner. Join with a sl st in the first sc made. [This end will be referred to as the "working end"]

Joining Instructions

Fold the bottom of the strip up behind the working end.
Leave about 1-1/2" of the bottom strip extended up above the working end.
Sc all corner sts together down the side.
Sl st in the same st as the last sc.

Fasten off.

Join the same yarn with a sc in the first two corner sts on the opposite side of the folded end.
Sc corner sts together along the side. Continue working in each st and row end around the extended end, placing 3 sc in each corner.

Join with a sl st in the first sc where you began joining.

Hanging Loop

Ch10, join with a sl st in the first st.
Ch1, turn. 16 sc in the ring.
Join with a sl st in the first sc.

Fasten off, leaving a 12" length for sewing.

Using a yarn needle, attach the hanging loop to the center of the folded end of the potholder.
