Crochet Hook G
Abbreviations Are As Follows:
Stitch Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- tc = treble crochet
- picot = chain 3 and slip stitch in the third chain from hook
Crochet Rounds
ROUND 1: Begin with a foundation chain.
I did 48 ch for the crown, but it ended up being too small. If at all possible, I recommend trying your foundation chain on your victim before you continue to round 2 ;)- For a baby less than 3 months of age: 48 ch
- For a baby over 3 months of age: 54 ch
- For a toddler/child: 60 ch
- For a grown up: 72 ch
Once you have a foundation chain in the appropriate size, join to form a ring. Make sure you don't have any twisties in your chain or you're going to be sorry later!
ROUND 2: Ch 1. SC in each ch around. Join.
ROUND 3: Same as round 2
ROUND 4: Same as round 2
Now for the crown-y part.
ROUND 5: Ch 1, *sc in next stitch, hdc and dc together in next stitch, tc-picot-tc together in next stitch, dc and hdc together in next stitch, sc in next stitch, sl st in next stitch*. Repeat from * to * to end.
Now, you've got options for ROUND 6:
- For crown #1 (the gray one): With contrasting color, sl st in each stitch around. Finish off.
- For crown #2 (the purple crown): Join contrasting color in each picot and picot (ch 3, sl st in third ch from hook). It's a picot in a picot, peeps! Finish off (I tied mine and cut them off super-short instead of weaving in all those extra ends).
ROUND 7 (Sorta):
For the scallops on the bottom of the crown, join contrasting color to the first row of sc. *Skip 1 stitch, sl st in next stitch, skip 1 stitch, 5 sc in next stitch.* Repeat from * to * to end. Finish off.
Weave in your ends.
