How to Knit a Kimono Sweater with Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick

Materials
Size 13 knitting needles
Finished Measurements
Finished sweater measures 24″ across chest and 14″ from top of shoulder to hem.
Gauge
3 sts = 1 inch.
(Note: Kimono is knit in one piece starting at the back hem)
Instructions
Back
Cast on 28 sts. Work in K1, P1 ribbing for 1 1/2 inches. Work in Stockinette stitch for 8 inches from cast on edge, ending with a Wrong Side row.
Shape Sleeves
Cast on 8 sts at beginning of next 2 rows – 44 sts. Continue in Stockinette stitch until piece measures 13 1/2 inches from beginning, ending with a Wrong Side row.
Shape Neck
Next Row: K16 sts and slip to stitch holder for Right Front, join 2nd ball of yarn and bind off next 12 sts for Back neck, knit to end for Left Front.
Left Front
Working on 16 sts of Left Front only, work 5 more rows in Stockinette stitch. Next Row (RS): K2, yo, knit to end – 17 sts. Next Row: Purl to 2 sts before end of row, yo, p2 – 18 sts. Repeat last 2 rows until there are 36 sts on needle. Sleeve should measure 11 in. from cast-on edge, ending with a Right Side row.
Shape Sleeve
Next Row (WS): Bind off 8 sts, purl to end. Continue even in Stockinette stitch until piece measures 27 inches from beginning, ending with a WS row. Work K1, P1 ribbing for 1 1/2 inches. Bind off.
Right Front
Slip sts for Right Front from stitch holder to needle. Starting with a WS row, work as for Left Front reversing shaping.
Finishing Touches
Sew side and sleeve seams. Weave in ends.
Crochet 2 12″ ties on the inside—one under the arm and the other on the side. This will keep the inside flap in place when the sweater is closed.
