The instructions are written for the smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes, the instructions will be indicated in parentheses. Numbers for each size are shown in the same color throughout the pattern. When only one number is given in black, it applies to all sizes.

Ch 2 at beginning of row does not count as stitch.
Back
Ch 63 (69-75-81-95-109).
1st row: (RS). 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 61 (67-73-79-93-107) sts.
2nd row: Ch 1. *Work 1 sc into horizontal bar of next hdc from previous row (bar is below loops normally worked - see diagram). Ch 1. Skip next hdc. Repeat from * to last hdc. Work 1 sc into horizontal bar of last hdc. Turn.
3rd row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in first sc. *1 hdc in next ch-1 space. 1 hdc in next sc. Repeat from * to end of row. Turn.
4th and 5th rows: As 2nd and 3rd rows.
6th row: Ch 1. *Work 1 sc into horizontal bar of next hdc from previous row. Ch 2. Skip next hdc. Repeat from * to last hdc. Work 1 sc into horizontal bar of last hdc. Turn.

Work from ** to ** as given for Back. Repeat 3rd to 16th rows for Body Pattern until work from beginning measures 4 rows less than Back, ending on a 16th row of pattern.
Shape neck: 1st row: (RS). Ch 2. 1 hdc in first sc. (1 hdc in next ch-1 space. 1 hdc in next sc) 7 (8-10-11-14-17) times (neck edge). Turn. Leave remaining stitches unworked.
2nd row: Ch 1. Working into horizontal bars of hdc from previous row, sc2tog. 1 sc in next hdc. *Ch 1. Skip next hdc. 1 sc in next hdc. Repeat from * to end of row. Turn.

Finishing
Pin pieces to measurements. Cover with a damp cloth, leaving cloth to dry. Sew shoulder seams.
Neck edging: 1st round: (RS). Join yarn with sl st at left shoulder seam. Ch 1. Work 1 round of sc evenly around neck edge. Join with sl st to first sc.
2nd round: Ch 1. Working from left to right, instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 reverse sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Place markers on side edges 7½ (8-8½-9-9½-10)” [19 (20.5-21.5-23-24.5-25.5) cm] down from shoulder seams. Sew in Sleeves between markers. Sew side and sleeve seams.
