Knitting Materials and Knitting Tools:

Straight needles 3.5 mm (US 4);

"Romantic Country" yarn – 80% wool, 20% acrylic. Dark red: 100 grams - 120 m per skein;

Common Abbreviations of Knitting Stitches:

  • k – knit
  • sel s – selvage stitch: always slip the first stitch purlwise, work to the last stitch, purl the last stitch

Bow Knit Ear Warmer Size:

Length folded in half: 18 cm (7”) – will suit baby’s head (circumference 46-50 cm). Knit a bit longer piece to suit bigger head’s circumference.

Width: 10 cm (4”).

Bow Knit Ear Warmer Pattern:

Cast on 18 stitches.

Row 1: knit all stitches, turn.

Row 2: knit all stitches, turn.

Continue knitting all rows until desired headband’s length.

Cut the yarn leaving at least 5-7 cm. Pull the yarn slightly to make the seam look wrinkled.

Take another color (in my case it is bright red) and knit a simple rectangle for the bow.

Cast on 14 stitches.

Row 1: sel s, k12, sel s.

Row 2: sel s, p12, sel s.

Repeat Rows 1-2 until piece reaches 10.5-11 cm (4 – 4 ½ inches). Bind off.

Loop Part of Knitted Ear Warmer:

For the loop part, cast on 10 stitches.

Row 1: sel s, [k1, place working yarn in front and slip the next stitch] – repeat 4 times, sel s, turn.

Row 2: sel s, [k1, place working yarn in front and slip the next stitch] – repeat 4 times, sel s, turn. Knit for 17-20 rows.

Put the red rectangle on the top of the headband, grab the loop (ring) around them and sew from the backside.
