Knitting a Cozy Sweater and Mittens Using Classic Tweed and Evento Yarn


You’ll Need:
250 (300) 350g and 50g for mittens of mélange white-grey-black Lana Gross Classic Tweed yarn (100% wool; 175m/50g);
250 (300) 350g and 100g for mittens of mélange grey-black Evento yarn (65% cotton, 35% wool; 160m/50g);
Knitting needles size 6;
Circular knitting needles size 5.5;
Double-pointed knitting needles size 5.5.

Note:
Work in 2 threads of yarn – 1 thread Lana Gross and 1 thread Evento.
Used Patterns:
- 1 x 1 rib;
- Main pattern: the quantity of stitches is multiple of 12 + selvage stitches. Work according to the scheme, on which only RS rows are stated, make WS rows according to the pattern. Repeat 1st-24th rows.
- Huge pearled pattern: 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch in turn, replace the stitches every 2 rows.
Stitches Control:
15 stitches x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back
Cast on 71 (77) 83 stitches with knitting needles size 6 and work in the following way: 1 selvage stitch, 5 (6) 6 pattern repeats, 9 (3) 9 stitches of pattern repeat, selvage stitch. In 43 cm from the setup row, bind off 2 stitches from both sides for armholes, then bind off 1 x 2 stitches and 4 (4) 5 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row = 55 (61) 65 stitches. In 20 (21) 22 cm from the beginning of armholes, bind off 1 x 3 (4) 4 stitches from both sides for shoulder chamfers, then 2 x 4 stitches in every 2nd row (2 x 4 stitches and 1 x 5 stitches in every 2nd row) 3 x 5 stitches in every 2nd row. In 65 (66) 67 cm from the setup row, bind off the remaining 27 stitches.
Front
Make in the same way as back, but with neck-hole line. For this, in 58 (59) 60 cm from the setup row, bind off the central 13 stitches and finish both sides separately, bind off 2 x 2 stitches and 3 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row.
Sleeves
Cast on 47 stitches with knitting needles size 6 and work in the following way: 1 selvage stitch, 3 pattern repeats, 9 stitches of pattern repeat, 1 selvage stitch. For sleeve chamfers, increase 2 x 1 stitch in every 10th row (3 x 1 stitch in every 8th row) 4 x 1 stitch in every 6th row, including the increased stitches in the pattern = 51 (53) 55 stitches. In 13 cm from the setup row, bind off 3 stitches from both sides for sleeve caps, then bind off 1 (1) 2 x 2 stitches, 12 (11) 10 x 1 stitch, and 1 (2) 2 x 2 stitches in every 2nd row. At 13 cm height of cap, bind off the remaining 13 stitches.
Assembly
Make shoulder seams, cast on 66 stitches along the neck-hole line with knitting needles size 5.5 and make 3 cm of 1 x 1 rib, bind off the stitches according to the pattern. Sew up the sleeves and make side and sleeve seams.
Mittens
Cast on 32 stitches with double-pointed knitting needles size 5.5 and work with the huge pearled pattern, marking the beginning of the 1st round. In 38 cm from the setup row, bind off all the stitches.
