Knitting Patterns for Sweaters and Mittens

You’ll Need:

250 (300) 350g and 50g for mittens of mélange white-grey-black Lana Gross Classic Tweed yarn (100% wool; 175m/50g);

250 (300) 350g and 100g for mittens of mélange grey-black Evento yarn (65% cotton, 35% wool; 160m/50g);

Knitting needles 6;

Circular knitting needles 5.5;

Double-pointed knitting needles 5.5.

Work in 2 threads of yarn – 1 thread Lana Gross and 1 thread Evento.

Used Patterns

• 1 x 1 rib;
• Main pattern: the quantity of sts is multiple of 12 + selvage sts. Work according to the scheme, on which only RS rows are stated; make WS rows according to the pattern. Repeat 1st-24th rows.
• Huge pearled pattern: 1 knit st, 1 purl alternately, replace the sts every 2 rows.

Stitches Control:

15 sts x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back

Cast on 71 (77) 83 sts with knitting needles 6 and work as follows: 1 selvage st, 5 (6) 6 pattern repeats, 9 (3) 9 sts of pattern repeat, selvage st. In 43 cm from the set-up row, bind off 2 sts from both sides for arm-holes. Then, bind off 1 x 2 sts and 4 (4) 5 x 1 st in every 2nd row = 55 (61) 65 sts. In 20 (21) 22 cm from the beginning of arm-holes, bind off 1 x 3 (4) 4 sts from both sides for shoulder chamfers, then 2 x 4 sts in every 2nd row (2 x 4 sts and 1 x 5 sts in every 2nd row) and 3 x 5 sts in every 2nd row. In 65 (66) 67 cm from the set-up row, bind off the remaining 27 sts.

Front

Make in the same way as back, but with neck-hole line. For this, in 58 (59) 60 cm from the set-up row, bind off the central 13 sts and finish both sides separately, binding off 2 x 2 sts and 3 x 1 st in every 2nd row.

Sleeves

Cast on 47 sts with knitting needles 6 and work as follows: 1 selvage st, 3 pattern repeats, 9 sts of pattern repeat, and 1 selvage st. For sleeve chamfers, increase 2 x 1 st in every 10th row (3 x 1 st in every 8th row), and 4 x 1 st in every 6th row, including the increased sts in the pattern = 51 (53) 55 sts. In 13 cm from the set-up row, bind off 3 sts from both sides for sleeve caps, then, 1 (1) 2 x 2 sts, 12 (11) 10 x 1 st, and 1 (2) 2 x 2 sts in every 2nd row. At 13 cm height of cap, bind off the remaining 13 sts.

Assembly

Make shoulder seams, cast on 66 sts along the neck-hole line with knitting needles 5.5 and make 3 cm of 1 x 1 rib. Bind off the sts according to the pattern. Sew up the sleeves and make side and sleeve seams.

Mittens

Cast on 32 sts with double-pointed knitting needles 5.5 and work with huge pearled pattern. Mark the beginning of the 1st round. In 38 cm from the set-up row, bind off all the sts.
