How to Knit a Stunning Violet Sweater

Back

Cast on 140 sts with straight knitting needles and make 12 cm of 1 x 1 rib. Decrease 40 sts in the last row and then, work according to the scheme. At 20 cm height, bind off 2 sts for arm-holes from both sides, then, 1 x 2 sts, 4 x 1 st in every 2nd row.

Left Front

Cast on 96 sts with straight knitting needles and make 12 cm of 1 x 1 rib. Decrease 24 sts in the last row upon the last 64 sts = 66 sts. Then, work as follows: 1 selvage st, 36 sts according to the scheme, and 30 sts of 1 x 1 rib. Make the arm-hole from the right side in the same way as for the back. At 45 cm height from the beginning of work, create the collar as follows: 1 selvage st, 30 sts of rib for placket, increase 1 cross purl, 2 sts of rib, and the rest of the sts according to the pattern. Then, increase 8 x 1 st in every row for collar widening. The pattern according to the scheme should become narrower. Bind off 20 sts of the shoulder at the height of the back, leaving the remaining sts.

Right Front

Make in symmetry to the left front.

Sleeves

Cast on 92 sts with straight knitting needles and make 12 cm of 1 x 1 rib. Decrease 38 sts. Then, work according to the scheme, increasing 7 x 1 st in every 8th row from both sides for chamfers. At 35 cm height from the beginning of work, bind off 2 sts from both sides for sleeve caps and 12 x 2 sts. In 38 cm from the beginning of the sleeve, bind off the remaining sts.

Assembly

Make shoulder seams. For the collar, transfer the previously left sts to circular knitting needles, cast on 44 sts between them upon the previously bound off sts of the back. Work with 1 x 1 rib on all the sts. At 13 cm height of the collar, bind off all the sts. Sew up the sleeves and attach the buttons.
