You'll Need

Any yarn of white, black and grey colors;

Knitting needles suitable for the chosen yarn;

Needle with a big eye.

Used Patterns

Garter stitch: all knit stitches;

1x1 rib.

Instructions

Tail

The tail consists of 2 parts: the tip of the tail from black yarn (see scheme 1) and the striped part of the tail (see scheme 2).

Start with the tip.

Cast on 3 stitches and knit, making increases: 1 stitch after the stitch and before the last stitch on the right side. Make increases from broachings. Repeat these actions up to the 32nd row.

There are 33 stitches on the knitting needles. There are no selvedge stitches; all stitches are in work.

Continue work with straight cloth, alternating the colors of stripes: 8 rows of grey yarn, 8 rows of black, etc.

Rib

Continue work with grey yarn. Make 32 rows of rib.

Edging stitches in this detail are selvedge stitches: slip the 1st stitch, make the last as purl. This part of the scarf is the most narrow and it will be thrown through the loop.

Body

Then, make 33 stitches of garter stitch. Decide on the length of your scarf.

Head

Make in the shape of a triangle (as the tail). But in places of increases, make decreases: after the 1st stitch and before the last stitches. Knit 2 stitches into 1 stitch. Use scheme 5.

First to sixth rows - grey yarn. In the next row, make the face of your raccoon: 12 stitches of white yarn for the brow, 3 stitches of grey yarn for the middle of the face, 12 stitches of white yarn for the second brow.

Mask

Alternate black and grey yarn threads for 10 rows. When there are 15 stitches left, make cheeks, alternating grey and white yarn. Make the nose on the remaining 7 stitches: 2 stitches with white yarn, 3 stitches with black yarn, 2 stitches with white yarn. After decreases, in the next row: 1 stitch of white yarn, 3 stitches of black yarn, 1 stitch of white yarn. Cut the white yarn and weave in the end. Finish the nose with 3 stitches of black yarn.

Make 2 such details. Make the second one in reflection to the first.

Ears

Lift 14 stitches from the 1st row of the head and 14 edging stitches. On the scheme, these are the 1st-14th stitches and 20th-33rd stitches.

Make ears with black yarn on every 14 stitches. Decrease stitches in right rows, knitting 2 stitches into 1 stitch.

Shape and size of ears are up to you.
