How to Knit a Beautiful Project: Step-by-Step Instructions for Beginners and Experts

Getting Started

Cast on any number of stitches.

Creating the Base

Knit 8 rows (4 garter stitch ridges).

Increasing Stitches

Increase row - right side: knit into the front and back of each stitch, doubling the number of stitches.

Knit in Stockinette Stitch

Knit 12 rows in stockinette stitch (knit on the right side, purl on the wrong side).

Decreasing Stitches

Decrease row - right side: knit 2 stitches together across, decreasing the number of stitches by half. Continue alternating these two motifs until the desired length is achieved.

Finishing Touches

End with 8 rows of garter stitch.
