Shell Stitch Technique

To perform the shell stitch, insert the right-hand needle into the front of the stitch 5 rows below the 3rd stitch on the left-hand needle. Draw through a long loop, leaving the loop on the right-hand needle. Proceed with the following steps:

  • Knit 1.
  • Make a second loop into the same stitch, then knit 1.
  • Make a third loop into the same stitch, then knit 1.
  • Make a fourth loop into the same stitch, then knit 1.
  • Make a fifth loop into the same stitch, then knit 1.
  • Make a sixth loop into the same stitch.

With colour A, cast on a multiple of 14 stitches plus 2 additional stitches and knit one row to start.

Abbreviations

  • K - Knit
  • P - Purl
