3-3/4" diameter at base

2-1/2" Tall (hat only)

MATERIALS:

Red Heart Super Saver - 4ply worsted weight yarn- less than 1/2 oz Black and small amount of YellowHook Size G for hat
Hook Size D for trim
yarn needle
paper clip

Stitches: ch, sc, sl st.

Difficulty: MEDIUM

R1: Ch3, 11hdc in the 3rd ch from the hook.
Join with a sl st in the top of the beg ch3. (12sts)

R2: Ch1, turn. 2sc in ea st. (24sc)
Join with a sl st in the first sc.

R3: Ch1, do not turn. Sc in BLO of ea st. (24sts)

Begin continuous rounds:

Rs4-13: Do not turn. Do not join. Place Marker
Sc in ea st around. (24 sts)

BRIM

R14: Join with a sl st in the FLO of the next st.
Ch3, dc in the same st.
2dc in FLO of ea rem st.
Join with a sl st in the top of the beg ch3.

Fasten off.

TRIM

Embroider on a buckle as shown in the photo. With the D hook and yellow yarn, make a very tight chain long enough to go around the hat. Lay it around the hat and pull each end through the hat beside the buckle and tie it on the inside to secure it.

Attach a paperclip in a stitch near the top of hat (as shown in photo) and add a card with a person's name or greeting.
