You'll Need

  • 700g of thick yarn (180m/100g);
  • Knitting needles 5;
  • Buttons.

Techniques

4 x 2 rib, braids (the scheme is attached).

Stitches Control

16 sts and 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back

Cast on 80 sts and knit 10 cm with 4 x 2 rib. Making the final row of the rib, increase the quantity of sts by 20 sts, evenly making the increases.

Turn to knitting with the braids ornament due to the scheme and make the back with this technique. When the length reaches 36 cm from the set-up edge, start binding off the arm-hole sts. In order to make it correct, bind off 4 sts once, 3 sts once, 1 x 2 sts, and 1 x 1 st from both sides in a row. After knitting the arm-hole to 20 cm height, bind off the sts of the final row.

Front

Cast on 40 sts and knit 10 cm of rib. Add 11 sts on the final row and continue with the braids ornament. Crochet the front to 30 cm long and bind off the sts for the neck hole. Bind off 18 x 1 sts in every 4th row for this aim. At 36 cm from the set-up edge, bind off the arm-hole sts from the left side of the right front, as you did for the back. Knit 20 cm from the arm-hole beginning, after that, finish your work. In order to make the right front placket, cast on 66 sts on the edge and knit 4 x 2 rib. Make 4 holes for buttons fastening in the 5th row of the placket. Knit the placket to 4 cm long, then bind off the last sts. Make the left front in analogy with the right, but without holes.

Sleeves

Cast on 48 sts and knit 10 cm with the braids ornament. This is to create the cuffs. Continue making the ornament with braids on the wrong side, increasing 1 st in every 10th row 11 times. After knitting your sleeve to 47 cm long, start forming the sleeve head. To make it, bind off 1 x 5 sts, 1 x 3 sts, and 2 x 1 sts in a row from both sides, and at the end bind off 18 x 1 sts. After forming the sleeve head, finish the last row.

Assembly

Sew the jacket at the shoulder seams, then knit the jacket's collar. Cast on 156 sts along the neck hole evenly. Then work with rib without knitting in every 2nd row from both sides 4 sts 13 times. Make 2 more rows and finish your work. Sew the jacket at the side and sleeve seams, then inseam the sleeves into the arm-holes and sew the buttons.
