Materials

  • Red Heart Super Saver in Cherry Red, Cafe Latte, and White
  • Size H Crochet Hook and Size F Crochet Hook
  • Polyfil Fiber Stuffing
  • Key Rings

Finished Size: Approximately 4 x 4 inches

Note: Pattern is worked from the bottom up

Cocoa Cup Pattern

Starting with red yarn and size H crochet hook

Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join, chain 1

  • Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
  • Round 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
  • Round 4-9: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
  • Join in brown yarn after round 9, fasten off red
  • Round 10: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
  • Join in white yarn after round 10, fasten off brown
  • Round 11: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (25 SC)
  • Round 12: SC Decrease, SC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 1
  • Round 13: SC Decrease, SC in next 2, repeat around, join, chain 1
  • Round 14: SC Decrease, SC in next, repeat around, join, chain 1

Stuff with polyfil.

SC Decrease until closed or use your tapestry needle to stitch the top closed.

Whipped Cream Creation

With white yarn and size F crochet hook

Join in yarn around any stitch along round 11. Chain 4, slip stitch to join in the same stitch, slip stitch over so you are working in the next stitch, chain 4 and slip stitch back to the same stitch. Continue around and then work upward along rounds 12-14 making chain 4 loops to create “whipped cream”.

Fasten off and use the yarn tail to secure a key ring to the top of the cup.

Cup Handle Instructions

With red yarn and size F crochet hook

Create a 12 row-long icord. Stitch to the side of the cup with one end on the bottom round and the other right below the brown cocoa layer.

N.B: You don’t need the peppermint to be round when stitching it onto the top of the mug.
