RND 2: Sl st across to first ch-2 sp, sl st into sp (Note: if making a 2-color square, at this point pull new color through to work Rnd 2, dropping old color until needed again on Rnd 3). Ch 3, in same sp work (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc), ch 1, *in next corner sp work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc), ch 1, rep from * around, join with sl st, do not turn (24 dc)
RND 3: Sl st across to first ch-2 sp, sl st into sp (Note: if making a 2-color square, at this point pull new color through to work Rnd 3, dropping old color). Ch 3, in same sp work (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc), ch 1, work 3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, *in next corner sp work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc), ch 1, work 3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, rep from * around, join with sl st, do not turn (36 dc)
RND 4: Ch 1, sc in ea st around, working 2 sc in ea corner sp and 1 sc in ea ch-1 sp on sides; join with sl st, fasten off (52 sc)
Make a second square the same as first square.
Right Edge Shaping:
With right side facing, attach yarn to lower right corner of one square.
Row 1: Ch 1, over next 12 sts work 4 sc, 4 hdc, 4 dc. Fasten off.
Left Edge Shaping:
With right side facing, attach yarn to upper left corner of the same square.
Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), over next 12 sts work 3 dc, 4 hdc, 5 sc. Fasten off.
Repeat right edge and left edge shaping on second square.
Joining
Matching shaped pieces correctly, hold squares with right sides together. Join yarn at the end of one side seam. Working through both loops of stitches on both pieces, slip stitch crochet across to the end of the seam. Fasten off.
Repeat seam on the other side. After seaming is completed, turn the piece right side out.
Trimming
Bottom Edge:
Attach yarn in one side seam on the lower edge of the cozy. Ch 1, sc in ea st around, join with sl st. Fasten off.
Top Edge:
Attach yarn in one side seam on the top edge of the cozy.
RND 1: Ch 1, sc in ea st around (working evenly along dc sts at ends of rows on the shaped portion), join with sl st, do not turn.
RND 2: Ch 1, work in reverse sc evenly around top of the piece, join with sl st. Fasten off and weave in all tails.
Insert cup into cozy and enjoy!
