How to Crochet an Adorable Hot Pepper

What You Need

• Worsted weight acrylic yarn in red and green
• Size 7 (4.5mm) hook
• Polyester fiber fill
• Yarn needle
• Clip to keep place
• Scissors

Pepper Instructions

Work in continuous rounds:

• Chain 2
• Round 1: Work 6 sc in the first chain
• Round 2-3: sc in each sc around - 6 st
• Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 9 st
• Round 5-9: sc in each sc around - 9 st
• Round 10: 2 sc in each sc around - 18 st
• Round 11-13: sc in each sc around - 18 st
• Round 14: *Sc2tog, sc in next st, rep from * around - 12 st
• Stuff firmly
• Round 15: Sc2tog around - 6 st
• Sew up end and weave in end

Top Instructions

Chain 3, *dc in first chain, sl st in same chain, ch 2. Repeat from * till you have 4 scallops, ending with a slip stitch. Cut the tail for sewing.

Run the tail from the beginning up through the hole to create the stem, and use the end tail to sew to the top of the pepper.

Be sure to shape the pepper for a more realistic look. Make it in any color, as these could easily pass for many types of chilies!
