Materials

MATERIALS: D-M-C Pearl Cotton, Art. 116D, Size 8: 2 balls Yellow Ombre No. 90 or No. 108 (A) and D-M-C Pearl Cotton, Size 5: 1 ball Green No. 909 or No. 911 (B).

Suitable padding for lining.

Steel Crochet Hook, Size 7.

Gauge

GAUGE: 10 sts = 1 inch

Instructions

Starting Rows

With A ch 68. Row 1 (right side): 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in next ch, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in next ch, 5 dc in next ch, drop loop from hook, insert hook in first dc of 5 dc just made and draw dropped loop thru tightly (Popcorn made), 1 dc in next ch; rpt from * 29 times, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 sc in each of 2 chs (30 Popcorns).

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each st across (67 sc).

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each of first 2 sc, 1 hdc in next sc, 1 dc in next sc, * a Popcorn in next sc, 1 dc in next sc; rpt from * 29 times, 1 hdc in next sc, 1 sc in each of 2 sc.

Row 4: Rpt row 2. Rpt rows 3 and 4 alternately until 16 rows from beginning. Fasten off. Make one more piece to correspond. Lay the 2 sides together (wrong sides facing each other), sew lengthwise at both sides leaving ½-inch free at one end, close opening at other end by gathering the edges together firmly.

Leaf Section

LEAF (Make 3): With B ch 3, 1 dc in 3rd ch from hook, ch 1, work 8 sc around post of dc just made.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each sc across. Rpt row 2 nine times.

Row 12: Ch 1, turn, skip first sc, 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc, skip next sc, 1 sc in last sc (dec. made). Rpt row 2 three times. Rpt rows 12, 2, 12.

Final row: Ch 1, turn, skip first sc, 1 sc in last sc, fasten off. Sew Leaves to closed end of Corn as shown.

Assembly Ring

RING: With B chain 1¼-inches, join into ring, 25 sc in ring, join, fasten off; sew to center of Leaf cluster as shown. Cut padding to fit and line.
