  • 6.00mm, 5.50mm & 3.50mm crochet hooks

GAUGE - 4sc and 5 rows of sc's measures approx 1 inch


Instructions

Base

With 6.00mm hook and main color ch51, change to 5.50mm hook, work 3sc in 3rd ch from hook, 1sc in next 47sc, 6sc in last sc. Working along opposite side of cast on ch, work 1sc in each of next 47sc, 3sc in last sc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (106sc)

Next Row: 1ch, 1sc in base of 1ch, 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt last row 14 more times, making 16 rows in all. Fasten off.


Main Piece

Join in contrast color, working through back loop of stitch only, ch1, 1sc in base of 1ch, 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc. Turn.


Next Row

Work through both loops from now on, ch1, (1sc, 2dc) in base of 1ch, * skip 2sc, (1sc, 2dc) in next sc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (36 Groups)


Pattern Row

1ch, (1sc, 2dc) in base of 1ch, * skip 2dc, (1sc, 2dc) in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc and sc, skip last 2dc and sc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. Rpt Pattern Row 18 more times. Turn.


Next Row

Eyelet Row

Drawstring

With 5.50mm hook and main color, ch110, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each ch to end. Fasten off.


Straps (x 2)

With main color yarn and 6.00mm hook, ch100, change to 5.50mm hook, 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. Turn. (99sc)

Next Row: 1ch, 1sc in base of 1ch, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.


Strap Edging

1ch, 2sc in base of 1ch, 1sc in each sc to last sc, 3sc in last sc, 1sc in row end down first side of strap, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each ch along cast on edge, 3sc in corner, 1sc in row end up second side of strap, 1sc in base of 1ch, sl st to first sc. DNT.


Starting with 1ch and working from left to right, work one row of crab stitch, around four sides of strap, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Fasten off.


Star Motif (x 2)

Make magic circle, using 3.50mm hook ch1, work 12sc in circle, close circle with loose thread of yarn, sl st to first sc. DNT.

Next Row: 1ch, (1sc, 4ch, 1sc) in base of 1ch, * skip 1sc, (1sc, 4ch, 1sc) in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last sc, skip last sc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing

Sew in and tie off any loose ends of yarn. Attach all strap ends above eyelet holes opposite each other on to the inside of the bag, thread drawstring through eyelet holes. Using loose strands of yarn on star motifs, attach one motif to each end of drawstring, gather top of bag by pulling both sides of drawstring and tie.
