How to Create a Crochet Poncho with Flower Motifs

You’ll Need:
400g of red Merino Extrafine (100% sheep wool; 125m/50g);
Crochet hooks 4 and 4.5;
Circular knitting needles 4.5.
Instructions
For the upper stripe of flower motifs, connect RND 1: 24 flower motifs (12 x 2 motifs size) and circle it in a ring.
For the lower stripe, connect RND 2: 36 flower motifs (18 x 2 motifs size) and circle it in a ring.
Work with crochet hook 4, start with 3 chain sts increase instead of the 1st double crochet and finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch increase.
Then, work with net pattern, make 5 chain sts for each arch in the 1st-4th circle row, and make 4 chain sts for each arch in the 5th-7th circle rows. Finish your work for neck-hole after the 7th circle row.
Make 215 double crochets along the lower edge of the upper stripe (= 18 double crochets for 11 motifs and 17 double crochets for 1 motif).
Then, work with net pattern, make 5 chain sts for each arch in the 1st-6th circle row, and make 6 chain sts for each arch in the 7th-8th circle rows. Leave all the stitches after the 8th circle row.
Make 215 double crochets (= 12 double crochets for 17 motifs and 11 double crochets for 1 motif).
Connect the lower flower stripe with the last row of net pattern in the next row as follows:
- 1 chain stitch instead of the 1st single crochet,
- * 3 chain sts, 1 single crochet in the arch of net pattern, 3 chain sts, 1 single crochet in the next 5th double crochet of the circle row of double crochets*;
- Repeat from * to *, finish with 3 chain sts, 1 single crochet in the last arch of net pattern, 3 chain sts, and 1 slip stitch in chain stitch increase.
Make a fringe of picots along the lower edge of the lower stripe, making 272 single crochets in the 1st circle row (= 15 single crochets for 16 motifs and 16 single crochets for 2 motifs).
Assembly
Cast on 132 sts along the neck-hole with circular knitting needles and make a collar with rib in circle rows. At 21 cm height of the collar, bind off all the stitches according to the pattern.
Make a flower and sew it to the poncho.
