Knitting Instructions for Toscanio Yarn Garment

You’ll Need

300 (350) 400g of red Toscanio yarn (60% viscose, 20% cotton, 20% polyamide; 110m/50g);

Main pattern: the quantity of stitches is even.

RS and WS rows: 1 selvage stitch, * 1 yarn over, purl 2 together*; repeat from * to *, 1 selvage stitch.

Stitches Control

12.5 stitches x 22.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Note

Make front and back as one-piece cloth.

Instructions

Front/Back

Cast on 16 stitches for the string and make 26 cm of the main pattern. Make 2 strings, then cast on 84 (100) 116 stitches for back and front between them and work with the main pattern on all 116 (132) 148 stitches.

In 51 (52.5) 54.5 cm from the set-up row, leave 31 (35) 39 stitches from both sides for two halves of the front (each) and make back on the central 54 (62) 70 stitches; outer stitches will become selvage stitches.

At the same time, bind off 5 stitches from both sides for arm-holes and 2 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row = 40 (48) 56 stitches. In 40 (43.5) 47 cm from the beginning of back, bind off the central 16 (20) 24 stitches for neck-hole and finish both sides separately.

For smooth rounding, bind off 2 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row. In 43.5 (47) 50.5 cm from the beginning of back, bind off the rest 10 (12) 14 stitches.

Then, make the right front on the previously left 31 (35) 39 stitches; the last stitch will become the selvage stitch. Make arm-hole from the left side, as for back = 24 (28) 32 stitches.

At the height of back, bind off 10 (12) 14 stitches for shoulder chamfer from the left side; make 10 (12) 13.5 cm for trim on the rest 14 (16) 18 stitches and bind off the stitches as knit stitches. Make the left half of front in symmetry to the right.

Sleeves

Cast on 36 (40) 44 stitches and work with the main pattern. Increase 6 x 1 stitch in every 4th row from both sides for sleeve chamfers; include the increased stitches in the pattern = 48 (52) 56 stitches.

In 13.5 cm from the set-up row, bind off 5 stitches from both sides for sleeve caps and 5 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row. In 19 cm from the set-up row, bind off the rest 28 (32) 36 stitches.

Assembly

Make shoulder seam, trim seam, and sew it to the back neck-hole. Sew up the sleeves, make side and sleeve seams.
