How to Crochet a Beautiful Skirt with Stripes of Arches

You’ll Need:

300g of mélange yarn (50% polyamide, 27% polyacryl, 23% cotton; 150m/50g);

Crochet hooks 4 and 5.

Used Patterns

Stripe of Arches:

Work with straight and reversed rows according to Scheme 1, where 1 stripe in width and 2 initial rows + 2 pattern repeats in height are stated.

Connecting Row:

Connect the stripes of arches in the following way: * 1 single crochet in the 1^st stripe, 1 chain stitch, 1 single crochet in the 2^nd stripe, 1 chain stitch *; repeat from * to * until the stripes connect at 30 cm from the set-up row. Then, work as follows: * 1 single crochet in the 1^st stripe, 2 chain stitches, 1 single crochet in the 2^nd stripe, 2 chain stitches *; repeat from * to * until the stripes are fully interconnected, finishing with 1 single crochet.

Pattern for Belt:

Work with circle rows according to Scheme 2 for the set-up row of the skirt. Make 1 pattern repeat upon 1 stripe of arches (= chain stitch of the set-up row + selvage double crochets of the 1^st-7^th rows). Start the 1^st circle row with 1 chain stitch instead of the 1^st single crochet, and begin subsequent circle rows with 3 chain stitches increase instead of the 1^st double crochet. Repeat the pattern 5 times; the beginning of the circle row aligns with the 1^st pattern repeat. Change the chain stitches increase to 1 single crochet or 1 double crochet in the next 4 pattern repeats, finishing the circle row with 1 slip stitch in the 3^rd chain stitch. Work with double crochets between double crochets of the previous circle rows, starting from the 3^rd circle row. Repeat rows 1^st-7^th circle rows once.

Note

This skirt consists of 5 parts from top to bottom. Make the belt after completing the set-up row.

Stitches Control:

Width of 1 stripe of arches: 17.5 cm, height: 62 rows = 60 cm; width of connecting row: 1^st-30^th rows = 1 cm, 31^st-62^nd rows = 2 cm, pattern for belt: 1 pattern repeat and 7 rows = 17.5 x 9 cm.

Instructions

Make 5 separate stripes of arches with a height of 60 cm (62 rows). Connect all the stripes together, joining the 1^st stripe with the 5^th stripe. For the belt, attach the yarn to the 1^st set-up chain stitch of the 1^st arch and work with the pattern for the belt. Complete the last single crochet of the pattern repeat in the 3^rd chain stitch increase of the 7^th row of the stripe of arches, then make 1 chain stitch above the connecting row. Conclude your work at 9 cm height (7 circle rows of belt). For the strap, create a chain of 160 cm long using 2 threads of yarn. Mark the center of one stripe of arches as the center of the front and draw the strap from/to the center of the front part through the last circle row of the belt.
