You’ll Need:

9 skeins of blue Pro Lana Cara yarn (25% merino wool, 25% alpaca, 50% polyacryl; 65m/50g);

Knitting needles size 8.

Garter Stitch:

Knit.

Stockinette Stitch:

In RS row – knit sts, in WS row – purls.

Check-board Pattern:

1st row (RS): 1 selvage st, *2 knit sts, 2 purls*, 1 selvage st;

2nd and 4th rows: as sts face;

3rd row (RS): 1 selvage st, *2 purls, 2 knit sts*, 1 selvage st.

Repeat 1st-4th rows.

Stitches Control:

11 sts x 20 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions:

Back:

Cast on 50 sts and make 6 cm of garter stitch and work with check-board pattern. For side chamfers, increase 1 x 1 st from both sides in every 4th row and 1 x 1 st in 12 rows. In 24 cm, form the set-up row, bind off 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts, and 1 x 1 st from both sides in every 2nd row = 42 sts. In 43 cm from the set-up row, bind off the central 10 sts for the neck-hole and knit separately, bind off 1 x 3 sts and 1 x 2 sts in every 2nd row. At the same time, at 44 cm height, bind off 2 x 4 sts and 1 x 3 sts from both sides in every 2nd row for shoulder chamfers. Total height is 46 cm.

Right Front:

Cast on 26 sts and work with garter stitch in the following way: 1 WS row of knit sts, then, work with shortened rows for lower chamfer: 7 knit sts, turn, work in reversed order, 14 sts, turn, work in reversed order, 21 sts, turn, work in reversed order. After that, work on all sts with check-board order, increase 1 x 1 st in the 4th row from the left side and 1 x 1 st in 12 rows = 28 sts. In 24 cm from the set-up row, bind off 1 x 4 sts from the left side and 2 x 1 st in every 2nd row = 22 sts. In 36 cm from the set-up row, bind off 1 st from the right side for neck-hole and 10 x 2 knit sts together in every 2nd row = 11 sts. At 44 cm from the set-up row, bind off sts for shoulder in the same way as for back.

Left Front:

Make in symmetry to the right front.

Sleeves:

Cast on 40 sts and work with garter stitch, decrease 1 st from both sides in every 6th row = 38 sts and 2 x 1 st in every 4th row = 34 sts. Make 10 cm of stockinette stitch, then increase 3 x 1 st from both sides in every 8th row = 40 sts. In 48 cm from the set-up row, bind off 3 sts from both sides for sleeve caps, then 2 x 2 sts, 7 x 1 st, and 1 x 2 sts in every 2nd row. At 62 cm height, bind off the rest 8 sts.

Assembly:

Make shoulder seams. For the collar, cast on 52 sts and work in the following way: 1 selvage st, 2 sts of garter stitch, 46 sts of stockinette stitch, 2 sts of garter stitch, 1 selvage st. In 12 cm, make 5 rows of garter stitch on all sts and bind off sts. Sew up the sleeves, make side and sleeve seams.
