Easy Crochet Pattern: Repeating Rows for Beautiful Textures

The quantity of stitches is multiple of 4 + 3.
Set-Up Row: Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, 1 single crochet (sc) in each chain across the row, turn;
1st Row: Chain 1, 1 sc in first sc, *chain 4, 1 sc in each of the next 4 sc; repeat from * across to within last 2 stitches, chain 4, 1 sc in last sc, turn;
2nd Row: Chain 1, holding chain-4 loop to back (right side), work 1 sc in first sc, 1 sc in each sc across the row, turn;
3rd Row: Chain 1, 1 sc in each of first 3 sc, *chain 4, 1 sc in each of the next 4 sc; repeat from * to within last 3 sc, chain 4, 1 sc in each of last 3 sc, turn;
4th Row: Chain 1, holding chain-4 loop to back (right side), work 1 sc in first sc, 1 sc in each sc across the row, turn.
Repeat the 1st to 4th rows.
The purple in this picture makes the pattern really hard to see, either lighten your aperture or yarn either way the pattern doesn't make since when you can't see the pattern develop.
