The quantity of sts is multiple 18.

1st row (RS): 1 knit st, yarn over, 3 knit sts, 1 slip st, 1 knit st, pass slip st over, 6 knit sts, knit2tog, 3 knit sts, yarn over, 1 knit st;

2nd row: 1 purl, yarn over, 4 purls, purl2tog, 4 purls, purl2tog through back loop, 4 purls, yarn over, 1 purl;

3rd row: 2 knit sts, yarn over, 4 knit sts, 1 slip st, 1 knit st, pass slip st over, 2 knit sts, knit2tog, 4 knit sts, yarn over, 2 knit sts;

4th row: 3 purls, yarn over, 4 purls, purl2tog, purl2tog through back loop, 4 purls, yarn over, 3 purls;

5th-12th rows: 1st-4th rows x twice;

13th row: 3 purls, (2 knit sts, yarn over, 1 slip st, 1 knit st, pass slip st over) x 3 times, 3 purls;

14th row: 3 knit sts, (2 purls, yarn over, purl2tog) x 3 times, 3 knit sts;

15th-24th rows: repeat the 13th-14th rows x 5 times.

Repeat 1st-24th rows.

To work a background of reverse stockiette stitch, in straight stitching, purl the first row, knit the second and repeat these two rows.
