Step-by-Step Guide to Alternating Colors in Crochet Patterns for Stunning Results

The quantity of stitches is multiple 5 + 1.

Note:

When changing colors, always yarn over with the new color and draw through the last two loops of the last stitch worked in the current color.

Instructions:

1st Row:

Using color A, single crochet (sc) in the 2nd chain from the hook and in each of the next 3 chains.
Insert your hook into the next chain, yarn over and draw through a loop, yarn over with color B and draw through both loops on the hook. Using color B, work 1 sc into each of the next 5 chains, then using color A, work 1 sc into each of the next 5 chains. Continue in this way, alternating working 5 stitches in color A and 5 stitches in color B to the end of the row. Turn.

2nd Row:

Using the same color as the last 5 sc of the previous row and working over the color not in use, chain 1 and sc in each of the next 5 sc. Change color, then sc into each of the next 5 sc. Continue in this way to the end of the row. Turn.

3rd to 5th Rows:

Repeat as for the 2nd row.

6th to 10th Rows:

Work as for the 2nd row, except start with a square of color B followed by a square of color A.

Continue working as above, alternating 5 rows starting with color A and 5 rows starting with color B.
