Keep warm in style with this easy-to-work Crochet Griddle Hooded Cowl. Featuring the textured griddle stitch, this hooded cowl is both cozy and attractive — perfect for brisk walks, layering over coats, or curling up at home. This pattern includes both UK and USA stitch names so you can follow the version you prefer.

Quick overview: adult size, approx. 18 inches in length x 30 inches in circumference. Skill level: Easy.

Materials

For great results, it is best to use the recommended yarn. The sample uses approximately:

  • 300 grams of Caron Simply Soft yarn
  • 6.00 mm crochet hook
  • An equivalent yarn would be a worsted weight #4 (USA) if needed

Notes

Make the foundation chain in an even number of chains. Work loosely for the foundation chain so the edge is not too tight. The pattern below is provided in both UK and USA terms; follow the version you prefer.

Small Tips

  • Check your tension on a small swatch to make sure the final size is comfortable; use a larger or smaller hook if needed.
  • For a softer drape, block the finished piece lightly if your yarn allows.
  • Consider carrying a contrasting color for a decorative edge if you want to customize the look.
