At the end of each round just carry on, do not join with a slip stitch.
Mark the start of each round and then move marker as a round is completed.
HK – hook CH – chain SS – Slip Stitch
SC – Single Crochet
SC Inc – Single Crochet Increase. Increase by placing 2 sc in 1 stitch.
SC Dec – Single Crochet Decrease. Hook through 1st stitch, yarn over hook, pull hook through, hook through next stitch, yarn over hook, pull through. Yarn over hook and through 1st 2 loops, yarn over hook and through last 2 loops.
HDC – Half Double crochet
HDC Inc – Half double crochet Increase. Increase by placing 2 hdc in 1 stitch.
HDC Dec – Half double crochet decrease. Yarn over hook, through 1st stitch, yarn over hook through, yarn over hook, through next stitch, yarn over hook pull through. Yarn over hook and pull through all the loops.

Make two sides. You can either make them both the shade or in contrasting shades.
Once you have made both sides you need to sew them together. Place them on top of each other and sew down the long length on the back and down the smaller front edge at the bottom for the cowl.
