  • CotLin (70% Tanguis Cotton, 30% Linen) DK (3) weight, 123 yds / 50 g per skein.
  • Sample made in Color #: (27750) Mustard Seed; and also in # (24462) Sprout
  • Stitch markers
  • Needle for weaving ends

Gauge

9 sts (3 st pattern repeats) x 7 Rows = 4”/10 cm square. Stitch pattern repeat: (sc, dc, dc) all in the same space, ch2.

Rows 3 – 38: Repeat Row 2. If you want to make your cardigan longer, repeat Row 2 until desired length, keeping track of the number of rows you add. If additional rows were added to the back of the cardigan, add the same number of rows to the front of the cardigan. Hold the cardigan up to your shoulder to determine the length; finished length will be approximately 4” longer after bottom edging and blocking.

Front Side 1

Row 39: Ch 1, turn, [sc, dc, dc] in first dc, sk next set, ch 2, [sc, dc, dc] in next dc; rep from for a total of 7 sets, dc in sc of last set. (22 sts)

Rows 40 – 76: Repeat Row 39 (or until front panel is the same length as the back panel.)


Side Edging

Turn to work down the side of the cardigan.

Row 1: Ch 1, work 2 sc into each dc and 1 sc in each sc down length of side. (114 sts) *This number will vary if additional rows were added to the length of the cardigan.

Row 2: Ch 2, turn, (counts as first dc) dc across.

Row 3: Repeat Row 2, FO.


Front Side 2

Sk next 1 set of Row 38, attach yarn in first dc of the next set with a sl st. (7 sets from the opposite edge of the row)

Center Edging

Side Edging

Reattach yarn on the outside edge Front Side 2.

Lay cardigan flat on a table with Row 1 and Row 76 lined up at the bottom and the dc edging lined up on the sides.

Using a ruler, measure 10” / 25cm from the top and pin together with a stitch marker; repeat for second side.

Using a large needle, seam sides from the bottom up to the stitch marker using a mattress stitch or your preferred method of seaming.


Bottom Edging

Reattach yarn into the bottom of Row 76 on side 1.

Row 1: Working all the way around the bottom of the cardigan, work 2 sc into the side of each dc of Center Edging, (6 sts) work 1 sc into each Ch-2 sp, and 1 sc into each st across until you reach the Side Edging (28 sts), work 2 sc into the side of each dc, (8 sts), work 3 sc into each ch-3 sp, and 1 sc into each st across until you reach the Side Edging (60 sts), work 2 sc into the side of each dc (8 sts), work 1 sc into each ch-2 sp, and 1 sc into each st across until you reach Center Edging, (28 sts), work 2 sc into the side of each dc (6), turn.
