Materials
- DK weight yarn (used for sample: Baby Bee Sweet Delight)
- Main color: 2 oz
- Contrast color 1 (used for center and crabs): 2 oz
- Contrast color 2 (used for accents): 1 oz
- Hook: F/3.75mm
Any yarn weight can be used; just make sure you use the appropriate hook size for the yarn weight.
Gauge is not important unless you are trying to be specific. Keep in mind I crochet loosely; you may need to go up or down a hook size to achieve my gauge.
DK Gauge Pattern With F Hook
1- ch19, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across (18)
2-18- ch1, turn, sc in each sc.
18sc x 18 rows = 4” x 4” square
Finished/Wet-Blocked Size: 9.5” x 9.5”
Special Stitches
Overlap SC Decrease
Worked in BLO- Make a sc dec as normal on first two stitches, then re-enter st #2 and pull up a loop, enter st #3, and pull up a loop, complete sc dec. Continue making sc dec’s around always re-entering the last sc you used first, example: st 3 & 4, st 4 & 5, st 5 & 6, etc until you reach the last st. Join with a sl st to the first sc dec.
3DC Cluster
(yo, insert hook into st indicated, draw up loop, yo, pull through two loops) 3x, yo, pull through all loops on hook.

(WS) Turn, do not ch1, BLO overlap sc dec (see special stitches) around. Mark RS of work if you need to.
Round 3
Do not turn, behind Rd2 sl st in first open loop from Rd1, ch3, dc in same space, 2dc in each open loop. Join. (40dc)
Cut color and weave in ends.
With Main Color
Round 4: (this round BLO) join in any dc with a sl st, ch3 (dc, ch2, 2dc) in the join space, [*dc in the next st, hdc in the next st, sc in next 5, hdc in the next st, dc in the next st*, (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in the next] 3 times, repeat * to * once. Join with 1st dc. Do not cut color. (13 st/side)
Round 5: Sl st to the corner, ch1, [(2sc, ch2, 2sc) in corner space, sc in each st across] 4 times. Join with 1st sc. Do not cut color. (17 st/side)
