Crochet Bear Granny Square Pattern

- Dk / weight 3 yarn: I used Paintbox Simply DK in Slate Green for the background color (276 meters per 100g) and various different colors for the animals.
- 4ply yarn in black and white for the eyes on the 4, 5 and 6.5” squares.
- 3 and 4 mm crochet hooks.
- Needle.
- Scissors.

9 dc x 4 rows = 2” x 2”
Eyes
If making small, medium and large squares, use a 3mm hook and black 4 ply yarn.
If making extra large, use DK black yarn and 4mm hook.
Round 1: In a magic circle, ch1, 6 sc, slst to the first and pull tight. (6)
Fasten off with a long end for sewing, sew one white line for small, medium and large, and two white lines for extra large.
Bear
Make the circle brown.
Small 4” / Medium 5” Square
Muzzle
Using beige yarn:
Round 1: Make a magic circle, ch2, 15 dc into the circle, slst to the first and pull tight. (15)
Fasten off with a long end for sewing.
Nose
Using black 4ply yarn:
Round 1: Make a magic circle, ch1, 6 sc into the circle, slst to the first and pull tight. (6)
Fasten off and sew at the top of the muzzle, sew a black line down to the bottom, then sew in place.
Ears
Using brown yarn, make two:
Round 1: Make a magic circle, ch1, 6 sc into the circle, slst to the first and pull tight. (6)
Round 2: ch1, [2 hdc] in each stitch. (12) Fasten off with a long end for sewing.
Large 6.5” Square
Muzzle
Using beige yarn:
Round 1: Make a magic circle, ch2, 16 tr into the circle, slst to the first and pull tight. (16)
Fasten off with a long end for sewing.
Nose
Using black yarn:
Round 1: Make a magic circle, ch1, 8 sc into the circle, slst to the first and pull tight. (8)
Fasten off and sew at the top of the muzzle, sew a black line down to the bottom, then sew in place.
Ears
Make two using brown yarn:
Round 1: Make a magic circle, ch2, 8 hdc into the circle, slst to the first and pull tight. (8)
Round 2: ch1, [2 hdc] in each stitch. (16) Fasten off with a long end for sewing.
