Crochet Rosa Poodle

NOTE: Rosa measures 25 cm approximately. Of course should you choose a different hook or yarn calling, measures will vary. Materials:- 2.50 mm crochet hook- 4.00 mm crochet hook- 100 % cotton yarn (8/8 - DK Worsted)- Chenille yarn (I used Hobbii Honey Bunny)- A pair of safety eyes of 10 cm- Polyfiber fill for stuffing- Tapestry needle

Colors:- Cream or white (100% cotton)- Chenille yarn in pink.- A bit of pink (cotton) to embroider the cheeks and of black (cotton) to embroider the nose.

Abbreviations (US Terms):st = stitchch = chain stitchsc = single crochet

IMPORTANT TIP = To crochet Rosayou will be using a 4 mm crochet hook with the chenille yarn, and switch to a 2.50 mm hook when you must use the cotton yarn. What I do is pull the loop of the last stitch a little and change hooks.

Leg 1
Start with cream (cotton)…
1. Magic ring of 6 sc
2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (12)
3. and 4. Crochet 12 sc
5. Change to pink (chenille) and crochet 12 sc
6. Crochet 12 sc
7. Change to cream (cotton) and, only through back loops, crochet 12 sc
8. Crochet 12 sc
Fasten off yarn and weave in ends. Set aside.

Leg 2 + Body
Start with cream (cotton)…1. Magic ring of 6 sc
2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (12)
3. and4. Crochet 12 sc
5. Change to Pink (chenille) and crochet 12 sc
6. Crochet 12 sc
7. Change to cream (cotton) and, only through back loops, crochet 12 sc
8. Crochet 12 sc

DON’T BREAK THE YARN! We will now start with the body & head...


9. With Leg 2 still on your hook, chain 6 ch stitches and join Leg 1 with 1 sc. Crochet 11 further sc along Leg 1, and then crochet 6 sc on one of the sides of the 6-ch chain. Now crochet 12 sc along Leg 2 and, finally, 6 sc along the other side of the 6-ch chain. Total stitches: 36 sc
10. to 14. Crochet 36 sc
Stuff the legs firmly…
15. Change to pink (chenille) and crochet 36 sc
16. Crochet 2 sc, one decrease, *4 sc, one decrease*, repeat * 5 times, 2 sc(30)
17. Crochet 30 sc
18. Crochet *3 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (24)
19. Crochet 24 sc
Start stuffing the body…
20. Crochet 2 sc, one decrease, *2 sc, one decrease*, repeat * 5 times, 2 sc (18)
21. Crochet 18 sc
22. Crochet *1 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (12)
23. Change to cream (cotton) and, only through back loops, crochet 12 sc
24. Crochet 2 sc in each st (24)
25. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (36)
26. Crochet *5 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (42)
27. Crochet 3 sc, 2 sc in the next st, *6 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * 5 times, 3 sc (48)
Stuff the neck area firmly…
28. to 45. Crochet 48 sc
46. Crochet *6 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (42)
Place the safety eyes between rounds 30 and 31, with a distance of 9 stitches. Embroider the cheeks with pink yarn (cotton).
47. Crochet *5 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (36)
48. Crochet *4 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (30)
49. Crochet *3 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (24)
50. Crochet *2 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (18)
Stuff firmly.
51. Crochet *1 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (12)

Fasten off yarn and weave in ends.

Fur Cap
With pink (Chenille)...
1. Magic ring of 6 sc
2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (12)
3. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (18)
4. Crochet 1 sc, 2 sc in the next st, *2 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * 5 times, 1 sc (24)
5. Crochet *3 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (30)
6. Crochet 2 sc, 2 sc in the next st, *4 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * 5 times, 2 sc (36)
7. Crochet *8 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (40)
8. to 14. Crochet 40 sc
Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail to sew to the head.

Ears
Make two, using pink (Chenille)…
1. Magic ring of 5 sc
2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (10)
3. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (15)
4. and 5. Crochet 15 sc
6. Crochet *1 sc, one decrease*, repeat * (10)
7. to 9. Crochet 10 sc
10. Press the opening with your fingers, aligning 5 stitches side by side and sc together the corresponding stitches, 1 sc into each pair of stitches (5).
Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail to sew the arms to the body.

Muzzle
Using cream (cotton)…
1. Magic ring of 6 sc
2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (12)
3. and 4. Crochet 12 sc
5. Crochet *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st*, repeat * (18)
6. and 7. Crochet 12 sc
Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail to sew to the head.

Arms
Make two, starting with cream (cotton)…
1. Chain 2. Crochet 4 sc in the second chain from hook.
2. Crochet 2 sc in each stitch (8)
3. to 5. Crochet 8 sc
6. Change to pink (chenille) and crochet 8 sc
7. Crochet 8 sc
8. Change to cream (cotton) and, only through back loops, crochet 8 sc
No need to stuff the arm…
9. to 14. Crochet 8 sc
15. Press the opening with your fingers, aligning 4 stitches side by side and sc together the corresponding stitches, 1 sc into each pair of stitches (4).
Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail to sew the arms to the body.

Tail
Using cream (cotton)…
1. Magic ring of 6 sc
2. to 9. Crochet 6 sc
No need to stuff...
10. Press the opening with your fingers, aligning 3 stitches side by side and sc together the corresponding stitches, 1 sc into each pair of stitches (3).
Fasten off yarn, leaving a long tail to sew to the body.

Fur ball for the tail1. Magic ring of 5 sc
2. Crochet 2 sc in each st (10)
3. to 5. Crochet 10 sc
Stuff slightly...
6. Crochet 5 decreases (5)
Fasten off yarn and closethe remaining stitches through the front loops. Don’t weave in the ends. We will use it to sew this ball to the tip of the tail.

Assembly

- Sew the muzzle to the head, in between the eyes. With a bit of black yarn, embroider the nose.
- Sew the fur cap to the head.
- Sew the ears to the sides of the fur cap.
- Sew the arms to the sides of the body.
- Using the remaining yarn tail, sew the tail to the back of your Rosa.
- Sew the fur ball to the tip of the tail.

- Weave in all ends inside the body.
