Adorable Crochet Dogs: Golden Retriever, Husky, Poodle & Pug

Materials

• Yarn: Any suitable yarn for crochet projects (black, white, gray, beige, gold, and other colors depending on the dog design).
• Hook: Crochet hook (size appropriate to your yarn).
• Stuffing: Polyester fiberfill.
• Safety eyes: Small safety eyes for the dog's face (optional).

Step-by-Step Pattern

Body

• Round 1: Start with a magic ring (MR) and make 6 sc into the ring. (Pull the yarn to close the ring.)
• Round 2: Inc in each stitch around (12 stitches total).
• Round 3: 1 sc, 1 inc repeat around (18 stitches total).
• Round 4: Sc in each stitch around (18 stitches total).
• Round 5: 2 sc, 1 inc repeat around (24 stitches total).
• Round 6: Sc in each stitch around (24 stitches total).
• Round 7: 3 sc, 1 inc repeat around (30 stitches total).
• Rounds 8–11: Sc in each stitch around (30 stitches total).
• Round 12: 13 sc, 1 bobble stitch, 3 sc, 1 bobble stitch, 12 sc. Bobble stitch is made by: Yarn over, insert hook, pull through (repeat until there are 5 loops). Yarn over and pull through all loops.

Add safety eyes between rounds 5–6.

• Round 13: Sc in each stitch around (30 stitches total).

• Continue expanding the rounds with increases as described for the body.
• For the ears, ch 3, and make: Sc into second chain. Hdc into last chain. Sl st back to the base of the ear. Create two ears and attach carefully.

Pug:

• Use MR to make 6 sc. After expanding the rounds, shape the ears using slip knots inserted between the rounds (Round 4–5) followed by half double crochets and double crochets for shape and dimension.

Tail

Standard Tail:

• For Poodle, Golden Retriever, and others: Start with MR and make 6 sc into the ring. Sc in each stitch for the next 5–6 rounds, depending on desired length. Leave a tail for sewing and sew between Rounds 12–13.

Pug Tail:

• Begin with a slip knot and make 7 ch. Skip first chain, and make 1 sc in each chain (6 sc total). Sl st to secure. Leave a tail for sewing and sew in place.

Finishing

• Glue or sew all parts (nose, ears, tail) securely to the body.
• Add final touches, like fluffing or positioning the bobble stitches outward for the Poodle.
