Materials
- 40 yards of any worsted weight yarn (suggested yarns include Lion Brand Wool Ease and Patons Classic Wool)
- 1 set US #6/4mm straight needles
- 3 (three) small buttons
- Yarn needle
- Cable needle
Gauge
22 sts/32 rows = 4″ in stockinette stitch
Pattern Notes
- C4F = slip next 4 stitches on cable needle, hold stitches in back of your work while knitting the next 4 stitches off the left knitting needle, then knit the stitches on the cable needle
- C4B = slip next 4 stitches on cable needle, hold stitches in front of your work while knitting the next 4 stitches off the left knitting needle, then knit the stitches on the cable needle
- PM = Place Marker
Pattern
CO 24 stitches
Set-up Row: K4, PM, K16, PM, K4
Row 1 [WS]: K4, P16, K4
Row 2 [RS]: Knit all stitches
Row 3 [WS]: K4, P16, K4
Row 4: K4, C4B, C4F, K4
Rows 5, 7, & 9 [WS]: K4, P16, K4
Rows 6 & 8 [RS]: Knit all stitches
Row 10: K4, C4B, C4F, K4
Repeat Rows 5-10 ten more times
Repeat Rows 5-7 one more time
Next Row: K2, YO, K2Tog, K8, YO, K2Tog, K6, K2Tog, YO, K2
Repeat Rows 5 & 6 once more
BO all stitches tightly
Finishing
Sew three buttons to line up with the button holes. Weave in all ends. Block if desired.
